Creating Safe Homes and New Beginnings

For people escaping domestic and family violence, finding somewhere safe to live is only the beginning. Many leave with little more than the clothes they are wearing, facing the overwhelming financial and emotional challenge of rebuilding their lives.

With Australia’s housing crisis adding further pressure, the connection between domestic and family violence and homelessness has never been more important to address.

Through our Sanctuary Program, Friends with Dignity transforms empty properties into fully furnished, welcoming homes, providing everything from essential household items and appliances to furniture, bedding and children’s toys. Each Sanctuary is thoughtfully tailored to the individuals and families moving in, helping restore comfort, stability, dignity and hope for the future.

We are incredibly grateful to A Home for All Foundation for its generous $200,000 contribution, supporting our programs and helping us continue making a meaningful difference for Australians rebuilding their lives after domestic and family violence.

As the property industry comes together for A Night Without Home, we’re reminded of the power of community, collaboration and collective action in addressing homelessness.

Because everyone deserves more than a roof over their head. They deserve somewhere safe to heal, rebuild and feel at home.

“People that are affected by domestic and family violence tend to leave with pretty much just the clothes on their back. For us, to help them set themselves up, and not have to worry about that financial burden… it helps them to start again with dignity and that hope that things are going to get better.”
