1000 Sanctuaries. Countless lives changed.

This June, Friends with Dignity proudly celebrates the completion of our 1000th Sanctuary home set up under our Sanctuary Program.

This milestone marks more than a number. It represents 1000 opportunities for individuals and families impacted by domestic and family violence to walk into a safe, fully furnished home and begin again.

The Sanctuary Program was created to bridge an important gap. While support services help individuals and families secure housing, many are left with the challenge of starting over with little or nothing.

Through the generosity of our community, Friends with Dignity transforms empty properties into welcoming homes complete with furniture, household essentials and the comforts that help make a house feel like home.

Over the past decade, the Sanctuary Program has:

• Completed 1,000 Sanctuaries across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia

• Supported more than 3,000 people rebuilding their lives

• Been powered by more than 225 dedicated volunteers

• Diverted quality household goods from landfill and into homes where they are needed most

This year alone, we have furnished 41 Sanctuary homes, supporting 48 adults and 89 children rebuilding after violence. We have also responded to 109 requests for assistance, supporting 121 adults and 228 children through its programs.
